Training 27 hours a week at Texas Dreams Gymnastics, juggling school, and maintaining a social life makes life extremely stressful. Thanks to BYU Independent Study, I don’t feel pressure because I can take some of my schoolwork with me when I travel to my practices or meets. Through continued hard work, I know my goal of getting a college scholarship is a reachable goal.

I’ve been acting for about seven years now, working on a ton of sets and learning from amazing directors. Although it is an adventure to portray a character, my life is an even bigger adventure. My mom has been struggling with cancer, and my brother passed away recently. BYU Independent Study helped me during these tough times. Because I was too devastated to work on my English class, I called the friendly customer support representatives. They reminded me of my deadlines and offered me an extension if I needed more time to complete my course.

BYU Independent Study helped me with my racing and life; I actually would not have been able to pursue my dream without it. My experience with BYU was always top notch, and the staff were some of my greatest supporters. I encourage adult students like me to stick with their education. Even though it is hard to motivate yourself to do work without someone telling you what to do, in the end, it is worth it.
