Standard Program
About the Program
- Recommends that applicants be at least 14 years old
- Offers a robust traditional high school curriculum
- Requires students to complete 24.0 credit hours; most required courses are worth 0.5 credit hour
- Satisfies the basic high school requirements for admission to most colleges
- Requires completion of at least three courses every six months (an extension may be granted if extenuating circumstances arise)
- Helps students prepare to take the ACT or SAT
- Requires that students complete a minimum of 3.0 BYU Independent Study credit hours, regardless of the number of credits earned at other schools
- Students receive an official high school transcript upon completion
Note: Although most colleges accept credits from the BYU Independent Study High School Programs, students should always consult with their intended college before enrolling.
