How to Prepare for the Final Exam

Congratulations! You're nearing the finish line for this course! Before requesting the final exam, please note that you need to have submitted all eleven required assignments to Independent Study (the assignments do not need to be graded). Only then may you contact Independent Study and request the final.

The final exam for this course consists of two parts:

  • a multiple choice test on your reading from the textbook
  • a multiple choice grammar test

The exam will have between 80 and 100 questions and is worth 10% of your final grade in this course.

You must request this exam from Independent Study, not your instructor. Please plan on at least 1-2 weeks lag time between when you request the exam and when you can take it. This exam will be administered by a proctor (see Independent Study for more details) but will not be timed. You will not be allowed to use any outside materials for this test.

How to Prepare for the Exam on Your Textbook Readings

There are two main things you can do to prepare for this portion of the exam:

  • Review the principles and ideas discussed in each chapter of your text.
  • Review the Mastery Check Quizzes located at the beginning of each lesson in this course.

The questions on the final exam will be similar to the multiple choice questions located within the Mastery Check Quizzes.

How to Prepare for the Grammar Mastery Exam

The questions on the grammar mastery exam will be very similar to the questions on the grammar pre-test you took, as well as the grammar tutorials found on the CLIPS website. To study for this exam,

  • Review the tutorials on the CLIPS website.
  • Take the practice exams that are available on the CLIPS website.
