Orientation

Welcome

"What is it [education] for? The improvement of the mind; to instruct us in all arts and sciences, in the history of the world, in the laws of nations; to enable us to understand the principles of life, and how to be useful while we live.1"

In the most general terms, the mission of Brigham Young University is "to assist individuals in their quest for perfection and eternal life." Consistent with this mission, a BYU education should be spiritually strengthening, intellectually enlarging, and character building, thus fitting students with the skills and desire for lifelong learning and service.

It is our hope that this course, in a small way, helps fulfill the mission of BYU by giving students from around the world the opportunity to study this subject in the context of revealed gospel truth. With the advent of the Internet, truly "the world is our campus."
