How to Email Your Assignments

Requirements

This submission method requires a browser with a companion e-mail program that allows file attachments. Only Netscape 4.0 and Internet Explorer 4.0 have accompanying e-mail programs--Netscape Messenger and Microsoft Outlook Express--so download one of these browsers if you aren't currently using one of them. If your email program allows file attachments and you can't download either one of the capable browsers, see the Problems section below for instructions on submitting your assignment(s).

Procedure

After you complete portions of your portfolio assignment, save them in the format requested by your instructor. If a format has not been specified by the instructor, save your document(s) as WordPerfect 6.0 or Microsoft Word 6.0. If you have a later version of a program (such as 7.0), use the Save As function and save your document in the appropriate format before you send it. Make sure each document includes the following required information:

Once you click on the link below, your browser's email program will open and the email address line will be filled in. You will need to attach your assignment file(s) to the email, so you must know where you saved the assignment(s) on your hard drive. Once you have attached the necessary file(s), just click the send button. If you experience problems with file attachments, check your browser's help file.

Problems

If you have any problems using the portfolio submisson form, simply use your personal email program to send your portfolio submission to is_lesson@byu.edu. Attach each file required by your portfolio to your email message, and be sure the body of the message includes the following information:

  • Name
  • Barcode ID
  • Social Security Number
  • Assignment Number
  • Course Name

Please note that you will not receive a grade as quickly if you choose to non-electronically mail your assignments.
